Exotic and humble Japanese living room

Japanese living room theme is so thick with tatami floor mat, legless chair ‘zaisu’, paper sliding door and Japanese painting.

Japanese culture is unique and famous throughout the world as they’re doing well at exporting their culture. Not only art, traditions and cuisine, their residence style is also noteworthy. It’s like they put the art itself when design and build the residence.

Japanese people are well-known for their hospitality, respect, and modesty. These attitudes apply most when they are hosting guest, it is evident from the way they organize their living room. Nothing represents modest living room more than floor mat, low table and cushion.

It sounds cheap and old school, you say? There’s always a place for old school in any era. If you adopt it to today’s trend, which is modern style, you will find a new lively nuance of residence. Taking Japanese style into modern style without eliminating its modesty sounds challenging. Or you may say the otherwise: creating modern living room with the touch of Japanese style, as you notice on the some of pictures below.

There are some tricks used for bringing modern style into traditional Japanese living room, such assubstituting traditional paper sliding door with the glass one, applying some lighting instruments, rolling the rug out instead of full tatami (floor mat) cover,papering, etc.
